Data connections - Bank

What is this?

Data connections help you and your client import data into ApariPro, including data from bank feeds.

The Open Banking system, regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, provides a secure method for connecting a wide range of financial authorities such as Banks, Pension Providers and investment firms to ApariPro.

ApariPro has read-only access to the transactions but allows you and your client to see them all in one place.

Your client can choose which financial institution they wish to connect and which accounts to connect from each e.g Current account, savings, credit card etc

How do I do this?

To make a new connection

You can add data connections by selecting Profile & Settings from your clients dashboard and then select Data Connections.

Banking connections can only be set-up by the client. If you would like to connect a bank account or credit card to your clients account you should ask your client to select Profile & Settings > Data Connections > Connect new account, they can confirm their details on screen and then select the financial institution their account is held with, they will then need to approve the request and they will be directed to log into their online banking to complete the connection. If your clients uses mobile banking apps the journey to complete the connection is usually shorter when made on phone instead of desktop.  View a step by step guide for your client

Once connected

New transactions will automatically appear in Record Keeping. You can also import previous transactions, usually from the last 12 months. ApariPro allows clients to choose the start date of the import. Most users prefer to start it with the new tax year i.e 6th April. This can be changed after the account has been connected.

  1. Profile and Settings > Data Connections > Connected accounts

  2. Select the 3 dots and settings on the account you wish to change

From here you can select the date to upload transactions from and select confirm to update. The previous transactions will now appear in Record Keeping.

The Open Banking system requires your client to renew authorisation on each bank feed every few months. Your client will receive an email to inform them the bank feed is expiring as well as showing on the Data Connections page.

To renew a bank feed

  1. Select Profile & Settings > Data Connections > Connected accounts

  2. Select the 3 dots and Renew Authorisation

Your client will be directed to log into their online banking to renew the connection.
