Client connect: Inviting clients

Client connect: Inviting clients

What is Client Connect?

Client Connect lets you invite clients into your account so they can securely share their data and review their tax return. They log in to see their information, connect their bank, upload documents, and approve their return when ready.

Why Use It?

Data collection – Clients upload documents and connect their bank directly instead of emailing files around.

Transparency – Clients see their estimated tax liability and return anytime before you submit.

Collaboration – Everything happens in one secure place instead of multiple emails and attachments.

How to Invite a Client

Step 1: Select Clients

  1. Go to Manage Client Connect

  2. Find clients in the "Not connected" tab

  3. Check the box next to each client you want to invite

What Happens Next

Your client receives an email with an invitation link. They:

  1. Click the link

  2. Create their password

  3. Log in and start sharing data

They can now connect their bank, upload documents, and review their return anytime.

Quick Tips

  • If you wish to change their permission and billing structure, you will need to deactivate their access and then change to ‘Paid by Client’. You will not be able to downgrade the client access i.e. Move from ‘Paid by Client’ to ‘Paid by You’

  • Clients only see what you assign them—data is always secure

  • Invite clients early so they can start providing data

  • Use "Paid by You" for simple returns, "Paid by Client" for clients who like control

  • Clients can't submit returns—only you can do that
